• He was an engineering consultant for Hughes aircraft and Union Carbide Electronics companies.
• He invented the Planar Process, which solved surface instabilities of semi-conductor devices.
• His Planar Transistor provided the reliability required for use in large systems.
• His first large scale application was in military systems, and its reliability tested in Minuteman tests.
• His Planar Transistor was an important part of practical integrated curcuits.
• With this development came more reliable computers and devices.
• The insulator also made MOS devices practical.
